Keeping Cool in the Summer Heat with Annual ‘Ice Dump’

COLONY (WBAP/KLIF) – A heat advisory is in effect for parts of North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma for the rest of the work week with temperatures expected to reach between 105 and 110 degrees.

Hawaiian Falls in The Colony is keeping kids as cool as possible and hosted its annual ‘ice dump’ Wednesday afternoon. Staff at the water park dumped 2,000 pounds of ice into the wave pool. It provided some temporary relief to kids outside in the triple digit temperatures.

“It felt so good with the ice came in,” said Megan from McKinney. “It’s what I needed.”

The park is also asking its customers to stay hydrated and providing free water to drink. The ‘ice dump is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Hawaiian Falls in Waco.
