Parents of Three Victims of Plano Mass Shooting File Lawsuit Against Local Bar

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – The parents of a three of the eight victims killed in a mass shooting in Plano last year are suing a local bar and bartender for allegedly over serving the shooter and ignoring sings that he was going to commit an act of violence.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday by the parents of James Richard Dunlop, Darryl William Hawkins and Caleb Seth Edwards.

It alleges that Local Public House bartender Lindsey Glass knowingly over served him September 10th, the night of the shootings, despite his intoxicated and erratic behavior.

Investigators said the gunman, 32-year Spencer James Hight, openly displayed a knife and gun at the bar.

Police also said Hight’s blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit.

The lawsuit also alleges that although the bartenders noticed Hight’s condition, when staff alerted the owner about the situation, they were toldnot to call police.

After leaving the bar, Hight went to his estranged wife, Meredith Hight’s, house…shot and killed eight people, injured another before he was killed in a shootout with police.

The families are seeking $1 million in damages.
