(WBAP/KLIF) MCKINNEY, Texas – A student at McKinney North HS has died after police say the student had a ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound’ late Friday morning. The campus was placed on a lockdown after police found the student. The lockdown has been lifted and McKinney ISD posted this statement on their website following the incident:
“We are currently responding to an incident at McKinney North High School. The school was immediately placed on lock-down today following reports of a gun shot.
The McKinney PD responded, along with district officials, and learned that a student was deceased following a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
No other students were harmed and the police have secured the location. We are transporting students to McKinney Boyd High School to a reunification site. Students that drive there own vehicles to school will be checked out at McKinney North immediately and will be permitted to leave the campus. Students who do not drive, will be available to be picked up at 12:30 p.m. at McKinney Boyd High School, from the south side of the school near the auditorium, the side closest to 7-11. In addition, we will run our normal bus routes home this afternoon. We will keep you informed throughout the day with updates via School Messenger, and updates can be found on the District’s Facebook page and website www.mckinneyisd.net.”
