TCU to Sell Beer During Home Baseball Games

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – For the first time in Texas Christian University’s history, beer will be sold at its baseball games.

The university has never sold alcohol to the general public at any sporting event.

Associate Athletic Director Drew Martin said fans have been asking for this for awhile.

“As we look at fan amenities, what can we do to make our games more enjoyable to our fans and this has come up a number of times,” he said.

Martin said public feedback will determine whether they’ll continue to sell beer in the future.

“If this is something that we get a lot of positive feedback on then we will take that into consideration as we look at where this might go in the future. If it’s a very negative response we may choose to not take it any further,” he said.

If it’s deemed a success, Martin said the university could expand the sale of beer to other sports.

“As with anything, you’ve got to start somewhere. Now, is the time that we determined to at least to a pilot test program for the general fan to buy beer,” he said.

Beer will be sold starting an hour before the game and last until the top of the seventh inning. It will be sold in plastic cups…not glass bottles or cans.

The first sale will be at Wednesday game against Dallas Baptist before the first pitch.
