Residents, Colleagues say Goodbye to Officer Rogelio Santander

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas residents and law enforcement officers from across the country will say goodbye to Officer Rogelio Santander this week.

Officer Santander was shot last Tuesday at a Home Depot in Northeast Dallas. His partner, Crystal Almeida, was also shot and remains hospitalized. Catholic Dioceses of Dallas Bishop, Edward Burns said Monday that we met with Officer Almeida over the weekend.

“She took my hand and gave me a firm grip, a very tight squeeze as we prayed together,” Bishop Burns said.

The Bishop also met with the Santander family and said they are grateful for the community’s support.

“They are proud of him,” said Bishop Burns. “They are just so very proud of him.”

Bishop Burns will preside over the funeral mass which will be held at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall to accommodate the crowd. Between 3,000 and 4,000 people are expected at the service. Funeral services will be held for Dallas Police Officer Rogelio Santander on Tuesday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lake Pointe Church, 701 East I-30, Rockwall, Texas.
