UNT Restaurant Employee Fired After Student Finds Racial Slur Receipt

DENTON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A student at the University of North Texas will meet meet with the university president after being given a receipt from an on-campus restaurant with a racial slur on it.

Chelsea Shaw posted a photo of the receipt from Krispy Krunchy Chicken on Twitter, which had the n-word in place of where the customer’s name should be.

Ken is a UNT student and said he was shocked when he saw the receipt.

“It’s not a normal thing on our campus. We don’t normally experience racism here. We all get along fairly well,” he said.

Another student named Mary said she was disheartened by the incident but said it won’t stop her from eating on campus.

“It’s not everybody that’s like that. It’s just some people,” he said.

UNT Dining Services issued an apology on Twitter and assured students that they were looking into the situation.

The restaurant employee who issued the receipt has been fired.

UNT President Neal Smatresk called the act completely unacceptable.
