FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — What began as a peaceful high school demonstration against gun violence turned into skirmishes with counter protesters Tuesday.

About 100 students at Eaton High turned out to honor the 17 victims who died at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, February 14 and to call for gun control. The event was inspired by the national March for Our Lives and organized by student Jordan Vine. She told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram their peaceful display and discussion evolved into fights with students carrying Confederate flags. Vine can be seen on a video stepping on a Confederate flag and telling telling the flag carriers, “We don’t stand for this here”

Emily Conklin, spokeswoman for the Northwest school district confirmed the details reported by Vine and others students. She said there is no threat to student safety and no one was arrested.
