West, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A somber memorial service last night in West, marked five years since the West fertilizer plant explosion rocked the city .
A bell tolled at 7:51PM, the exact time of the tragedy on April 17, 2013. Fifteen peoplel died, 12 of them were firefighters and first responders.
The town’s Mayor, Thomas Mukasa said, “They showed true bravery.”
Meantime, investigators believe the fire that sparked the explosion was deliberatedly set.
An investigation continues.
