A Military Ordinance Causes A Bomb Scare In Austin

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – What is described as a “military type ordinance” caused a scare in Austin Tuesday night when it activated. A man at a Goodwill store opened a box and handled the contents causing it to activate. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Assistant Austin Police Chief Ely Reyes says the incident is not related to the string of bombings that have plagued the city.

Federal agents and Austin police have been responding to hundreds of tips and suspicious package calls following the bombings including a bombing at a Fed-Ex facility North of San Antonio earlier Tuesday.

Authorities say if you find any type of military ordinance or momento that you want to get rid of, call your local police department because they have the equipment to properly dispose of a device.
