Collin County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Some Colling County residents are concerned about the strong chlorine smell in the drinking water.
From Frisco to McKinney to Plano, residents say they are concerned about it.
A number of plano residents reached out to environmental icon Erin Brockovich, who says in a Facebook Post that she wants answers.
The North Texas Municipal Water District says it’s using a federally approved chlorine maintenance program. They say the water may smell and taste different, but is safe to drink.
Brockovich addressed the chemical used in the process in her post:
“Based on data from 11 cities, a 240-page study published in April by the Water Research Foundation, a Denver nonprofit that gets funding from the utility industry, concluded that utilities looking to reduce levels of such disinfection byproducts should avoid chloramine, among other options,” the report said. AVOID CHLORAMINE… couldn’t be more clear.”
