ANNA  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Members of the community in Anna have organized a candlelight vigil to honor the person whose remains were found in the woods Wednesday morning. The vigil will take place Thursday, March 8th at 7:30 pm at the corner of Mesquite Lane and Sweet Gum.

Many have speculated that the remains belong to Christina Morris, a woman who went missing from the Shops at Legacy in Plano in August of 2014, because the remains were found near an area her convicted kidnapper reportedly was the day after her disappearance.

However, the woman organizing Thursday’s vigil said it is not necessarily just about her, though she understands the possible connection could draw a large crowd.

“We don’t know if the remains belong to her,” said Lekita McMillan. “But regardless of who it is, nobody deserves to be dumped in a field and found by a team of construction workers.”

McMillan said she expects hundreds of people to be in attendance, with the Anna Police Department offering assistance as well.

Original Story

ANNA  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The family of Christina Morris has been notified after authorities found human remains in Anna near the Collin County line.

It’s common practice for a police department to notify the family of a missing person when human remains are found.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Department said the remains were discovered by a construction crew around noon Wednesday near Black Willow Trail and Taylor Boulevard about a mile east of U.S. 75.

The department’s Lieutenant Nick Bristow said the remains are badly decomposed.

“The rate of decomposition has exceeded our ability to even tell a gender on this person,” he said.

Morris was last seen on surveillance video at  the The Shops at Legacy on August 30, 2014 leaving with an acquaintance, Enrique Arochi.

Arochi was arrested and eventually convicted of kidnapping.

There’s no word if the remains belong to Morris.

The remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
