WEATHERFORD, TX (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) – A train derailed early this morning in Weatherford on the north side of the downtown courthouse square.

It happened shortly before 7am at North Main and Elm Streets. Weatherford Police say about 10 cars went off the track, but that no one was injured and no hazardous materials were involved.

Weatherford PD Sergeant Jason Hayes says the train had about 110 cars and that all of the derailed cars remained upright so getting the back on the track should be relatively easy.

Some power lines were downed and some streets had to be closed. Hayes says the power may be cut to nearby business when the process of moving the cars begins.

No word yet on what caused the cars to jump the track.
