Dallas Mayor: It is Imperative “Dreamers” in the City Stay

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Mayor of Dallas says it is imperative that “Dreamers” in the city are able to stay.

Mayor Mike Rawlings says many colleges and small businesses in Dallas would be devastated if a deal is not reached in Washington to allow DACA recipients, brought to the U.S. illegally as children, to stay in the United States.

“If all of a sudden you had a day without the dreamers, we would notice it significantly financially,” Rawlings said.

While Rawlings wants to see a clean DACA bill, he admits it is more likely a deal would be used as a bargaining chip for other matters.

Rawlings added that Congressmen who do not support the matter will see the wrath of voters in the fall.

“Politicians know how to stay elected,” Rawlings said. “Our Dallas representatives know that and they are going to support DACA.”
