Thompson Accuser Alleges Sexual Abuse, Harassment, Intimidation

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The woman accusing former Dallas County Health Director Zach Thompson of sexual harassment is alleging a pattern of sexual abuse, harassment, intimidation, and retaliation by Thompson.
Attorney Jennifer Spencer, Managing Partner at the Spencer Scott Law Firm, is representing the woman and said in a statement that Dallas County officials failed to take adequate steps to protect her client. Thompson was fired by the county this week. Spencer said that Thompson’s termination was a step forward and a sign as to the serious nature and validity of her claim. She said her client is eager to work in an environment without constant mental anguish and fear fear of when the next instance of harassment may happen.

“We look forward to working with Dallas County officials to ensure safety, closure, and justice for this employee and to ensure additional employees do not fall victim to the same harassment our client experienced,” the statement read.

The law firm said it will not share additional details regarding the situation and ask members of the public and media to respect this decision.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins released a statement Friday saying Thompson was given an opportunity to respond to the allegation and did not cooperate. The statement detailed communication between Thompson and Dallas County Commissioners Court Administrator Darryl Martin.

“Later that same day, Mr. Martin sent a text to Mr. Thompson and again asked him to categorically deny an allegation in the complaint that was a serious, clear, and unambiguous violation of county policy,” Jenkins’ statement read. “Mr. Thompson again declined to do so.”

Jenkins said that the following day, Mr. Martin spoke to Mr. Thompson via telephone and informed Mr. Thompson that he would be receiving a termination letter effective January 3, 2018.
