Attorney to Name Fort Worth in Civil Suit on Behalf of Jacqueline Craig

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Activists in Fort Worth are calling for a change in the city’s Police Department.

A year after a video went viral of an altercation with a white Fort Worth Police Officer and a black woman and her kids, protesters are calling for a change in the way the department treats its African American citizens. Attorney Lee Merritt said at a Thursday rally that he is taking the city to civil court on behalf of Jacqueline Craig.

“We plan to file a civil rights suit naming specifically the city of Fort Worth,” Merritt said.

Merritt wants acknowledgement from the city of wrong doing against Craig. The City of Fort Worth has formed a task force aimed at bettering race relations since last December’s altercation, but protesters in downtown Fort Worth Thursday said the task force hasn’t made a difference.
