DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas County Commissioners Court unanimously selected Deputy Chief Marian Brown as the interim Dallas County Sheriff Tuesday morning.
Brown said this is something she said she’s wanted for almost 30 years.
“To whom much is given much is required. So, I realize there’s a lot of work for me to do. Things that I will have to get involved in. So, I am looking forward to those challenges,” she said.
The law enforcement veteran said she’s already honed in on areas that she knows will be difficult.
“The toughest challenge is probably going to be to get in there and learn the ins and outs of detentions. I want to learn it backwards, forwards and inside out. It’s going to be my biggest challenge but it’s one I am ready for,” she said.
The job opened up after Lupe Valdez announced her decision to run for governor next year.
Valdez also endorsed Brown to the Commissioner’s Court.
Brown will be sworn in at the end of the month and a special election for a permanent replacement will take place next November.
