Governor Abbott Asks Texas Rangers to Investigate Allegations of Sexual Misconduct by Employees at Juvenile Detention Centers

AUSTIN  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Governor Greg Abbott has asked the Texas Rangers to launch an investigation into reports of sexual misconduct and inappropriate relationships by state employees at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

In a letter to the Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McGraw issued Wednesday, Abbott called the allegations reprehensible and called for more action to guarantee the protection of the youth in the care and custody of Texas.

“The resources and expertise available through the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers will ensure that these acts are dealt with swiftly and to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.

Abbott also commended the Texas Juvenile Justice Department Office of Inspector General for investigating these allegations and submitting them for prosecution.
