Bomb Hoax Forces Evacuation at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A bomb scare that shut down the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas for several hours Friday afternoon turned out to be a hoax. It started around 4:00 pm when an unknown suspect called the convention center claiming they had placed two backpacks full of explosives inside, and that they would be set off within 30 minutes. The building was evacuated, and bomb squads found multiple backpacks, but none out of the ordinary. The building was deemed safe shortly after 8:00 pm. The convention center was hosting packet pickups for the BMW Dallas Marathon at the time of the threat.
