FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – A Fort Worth park named after a confederate leader could have a new name by the end of the year.
The city’s Park and Recreation Department voted Wednesday to recommend to the city council renaming Jefferson Davis Park. It would be called ‘Parque Unidad Unity Park.’
The Parks and Rec Board didn’t consider changing any other park names.
“We do not have any other parks in our system that are named after someone that is famous for their service in the confederacy,” said Whitney Rodriguez with the Parks Department.
The council is expected to consider the name change in December.
