Lawn Care Workers Die From Over Exposure to Carbon Monoxide

LUCAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Two lawn care workers found dead Wednesday in a cargo van in a Lucas, Texas neighborhood were over exposed to carbon monoxide, according to the Collin County Medical Examiner.

The two men were found unresponsive in their work truck. It’s believed a generator inside the van caused a lethal amount of carbon monoxide, killing the two workers.

“We believe that there was a generator running inside the van which created the high levels of carbon monoxide inside the van,” Lucas Fire Chief Ted Stephens said.

Five first responders were also exposed to the carbon monoxide.

“The Deputy and one of my firefighters were symptomatic,” said Chief Stephens. “The other three were transported as precautionary measures. All five were released Wednesday afternoon.”

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths.
