President Trump Promises More Money for Texas Hurricane Relief, but Not Right Now

Washington (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Senator John Cornyn says the state will not be getting the $19 billion it wants for Hurricane Harvey recovery in the emergency spending bill that’s now under consideration in the Senate.

But Cornyn says President Donald Trump has committed to taking it up in November. The Senate has been working on a $36.5 billion emergency spending bill that’s already been passed by the House.

Cornyn has declared that “inadequate.” He made a direct appeal to the President and his budget director for more, but says the President “strongly indicated his preference” for a separate bill that will include funds specifically for Texas.

That is to happen sometime in November, but there is no indication how much money will be in that bill.
