Minutemen Head Home After Weeks in Southeast Texas

MCKINNEY(WBAP/KLIF News) -Volunteers from the Minuteman, the disaster relief organization based in Mckinney, are headed home after weeks of lending a hand in Hurricane Harvey clean up efforts.

Minutemen Executive Director Matt Payne said the over 100 volunteers were put to the test, staying 45 days in southeast Texas.

“It meant packing up and relocating at one point, taking some time off and rehabbing equipment on the ground and  then preparing to get that second wind and go help,” Payne added.

Before Hurricane Harvey, the group’s longest volunteer deployment was just 10 days.

Close to 100 volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours of service in Brazoria County by Houston and areas 40 miles north of Corpus Christi.
