Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Independent School District has taken the first step toward creating a shelter for homeless high school students. The district says it has at least 112 students who have no permanent addresses or recognizable homes. During Thursday’s board meeting it was presented with a plan to partner with several non-profits to turn the now closed Fanny C. Harris Elementary School into a shelter. The problem, as always, is money. The proposal would include a $135,000/year cap on the district’s share of the costs.
