DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The medical community reacted to President Trump’s Executive Order on Healthcare, Thursday.
The President said the order will provide “obamacare relief” for millions of Americans. It calls for making lower-premium health care plans available to more people.
Steve Love, CEO of the Dallas Fort-Worth Hospital Council, said he fears that the order will draw young and healthy people away from Obamacare. Love said the Healthcare market will be left unhealthy and cause increasing premiums for the sick. Opponents to the order said that many people could be unable to afford Healthcare in the marketplace and could be left without insurance.
“This intent is clearly stated to bring down insurance cost,” said Love. “But it comes with severe consequences for people with pre-existing or chronic illness.”
President Trump said the order also calls to expand the use of short-term insurance plans.
