Ground Officially Broken at New Site for Dallas Holocaust Museum

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The new Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum project is moving forward.

Ground was broken Tuesday morning at the site located on 300 North Houston Street, next to the the Museum’s current location in Dallas’ West End.

It’s progress on a project that Holocaust survivor Max Glauben said can be used to educate future generations about history.

“The only way we can wipe out bigotry and hatred is through education,” he said.

Millions of Jewish people were killed during the Holocaust and survivors like Glauben have said the painful memories of that time are difficult to bear.

Glauben said the horrific facts about the Holocaust need to be made public in order for people to truly understand a need for change.

“Through us explaining first hand the reality of hatred we can get there attention,” he said.

The 51,000 square foot museum will feature more than 100 video testimonies from Dallas area survivors as well as exhibits on other significant events regarding human rights.

The $61 million museum is expected to open in 2019.
