DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The aunt of the 13-year-old Lancaster girl who was kidnapped and murdered in an abandoned South Dallas home is asking that the house be destroyed.
On Wednesday, Cynthia King appeared in front of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and the city council on behalf of Shavon Randle’s family.
“For myself and my family, we’re fighting for this house to be demolished Mr. Rawlings. We’re just kindly asking…respectfully,” she said.
King said the family is struggling every day to cope and that the house is a haunting reminder of the way she was killed.
“I understand that you guys want reformation but this is not part of reformation. It’s too much traumatic experiences that have happened in this house,” she said.
The city said the homeowner has given permission to demolish the home.
Once the district attorney’s office wraps up its investigation, the city will be free to move forward on the House.
Randle was kidnapped from a relative’s home in July and her body was found inside an Oak Cliff home five days later along with a man who had been named a person of interest in the case.
Authorities said they believed her kidnapping and murder was related to a drug deal gone bad.
Three people have been indicted on aggravated kidnapping charges related to her case. No one has been charged with her murder.
