Bedford Police Detain Juvenile Acquaintance of Kaytlynn Cargill in Connection With Her Death

BEDFORD  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Bedford Police Department said it detained a 16-year-old acquaintance of Kaytlynn Cargill in connection with her death on Friday.

The department said it’s “met with and informed Kaytlynn’s family of the juvenile’s detention.”

The teen was taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Facility in Fort Worth.

14-year-old Cargill vanished while walking her dog near the Oak Creek Apartments in Bedford on June 19th. Her body was discovered June 21st in the nearby Republic Services landfill in Arlington.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office report said Cargill died of “homicidal violence.”

The Bedford Police Department said it wants to reassure the community that they are not at risk. It issued a statement that read in part:

The Bedford Police Department would like to ask the communities’ cooperation as this case moves into a new phase, and, as we do, to respect the judicial process. Our Detectives, as they have done from the beginning, continue to work diligently on this case and will do so to its conclusion.
