DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A South Dallas landlord says heavy rains contributed to a garage apartment collapsing and leaving a man and woman trapped inside.
The couple was saving to buy a house and lived in the space above an old garage. Landlord Robert Greer says the house has been leaning and gets worse every time it rains.
“Every time it rains it does this,” said Greer. “So I don’t know. I was going to demolish it when they moved.”
The man and woman were rescued by firefighters and weren’t hurt.
“With the mess it made I’m trying to clean this mess up,” Greer said.
Rescue crews told Greer the building wasn’t safe to stay up and had to come down. What was remaining of the house was demolished after it fell.
