CADDO MILLS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals took custody of 18 animals that were allegedly being mistreated at a home in Caddo Mills, about 60 miles southwest of Dallas.
The SPCA of Texas seized the nine cats, five dogs, three kittens and one pig that were found living in a “feces-filled, urine soaked” house on Wednesday.
The animals were taken to the Animal Rescue Center and the pig was sent to the Russell H. Perry Animal Care in McKinney, where they’ll be examined by staff and cared for until the custody hearing.
The organization said that this is third time they’ve seized animals from the home. On September 26 2014, the SPCA of Texas removed 48 animals from the property.
The organization said an anonymous tipster called in a complaint about the property. After that case, the homeowner spent several months in jail on an animal cruelty charge.
Charges are pending in the latest removal. A custody hearing will be held March 8 in Greenville.
