IRVING (WBAP/KLIF News) – Irving police are looking for four suspects after an elderly couple was injured during a violent home invasion Wednesday morning.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Fouts Drive between Beltline and Story Roads. The Irving Police Department’s James McClellan said the masked men stormed into the couple’s home, tied them up and robbed them. He said the man was beaten severely.
McLellan said investigators are going to take a close look at why these victims were targeted.
“It would seem that these types of crime are not random. Typically, when we have home burglars that would commit a burglary at night or home-invasion robberies, they’re after something specific and for a reason. So that will be a part of our investigation,” he said.
While the identities of the suspects are not known right now. McLellan said investigators do know that it takes a certain type of person to pull this type of robbery off.
“It definitely takes a lot of brazen to do this type of robbery in the middle of the night. Very dangerous and disconcerting as well. So, well have to make sure we get these folks identified as quickly as possible and get them into custody,” he said.
The homeowner was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
Police have not released a description of the suspects and no arrests have been made.
