Bodycam Video of Fort Worth Police Officer Mired in Scandal Audited

officer-martin-227x300FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The audit of the body camera video from a Fort Worth police officer seen in a viral video found no evidence of racial bias.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit reviewed 142 videos recorded by Officer William Martin’s body camera in the six months preceding the December 21st arrest.

Martin arrested Jacqueline Craig and her two daughters after she had called police to report that her neighbor allegedly choked her seven-year-old son for littering.

The video made national headlines while community activists and protesters demanded that Martin be fired. He was suspended for ten days without pay.

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the results of the audit concluded that Martin often made abrasive or unnecessary comments during calls for service regardless of race.

Craig’s attorney Lee Merritt said the audit did not go far enough.
