Duncanville  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The search for a missing great-grandfather ended tragically for a Duncanville family. The family of 84-year-old Juan Perez said his body was found in a creek near the intersection of Santa Fe Trail and Danieldale Road on Thursday.

The family started their search Monday morning after Perez, who had been struggling with dementia, wandered from his daughter’s home on Green Way Drive.

During the search for Perez, his daughter Hilda Lafleur said he was the family’s rock.  “I can’t imagine. He’s just everything to all of us. There are seven of us. He worked his entire life helping us and I just admire him so much,” she said. LaFleur said her father had disappeared before but the family managed to find him.

After Perez disappeared, LaFleur said the family turned to the Duncanville Police Department for help and posted fliers all over town. Duncanville Police have confirmed the discovery of a body at the location and said that the family had been notified.

The family said Perez disappeared on his birthday. LaFleur said that the family had lost its matriarch a long time ago and that their father was all they had left. She said his loss has been a devastating blow to the family.
