Red Light Cameras Shutdown

Red Light Camera 2RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF) – Cities that operate red light cameras often refer to individuals who avoid their tickets as “scofflaws.”

But, the tables have now been turned on Richardson after a judge ruled the cameras violate state law. Judge Dale Tillery says there are too many unanswered questions about their legality.

So now the city has decided to shutdown its eight cameras pending an appeal.

A higher court decision will have a huge impact on whether other cities across the U-S do away with the cameras.

Critics have long contended they’re nothing more than a money grab. Cities that have them claim they help reduce accidents.
