Body Recovered from Lake Lavon

NEVADA (WBAP/KLIF) – Crews have recovered the body of an 18-year-old from Wylie who disappeared in Lake Lavon.

Ibrahim Malik was with some friends jumping off a 30-foot high train trestle into the water when he went under and didn’t resurface.

One of the boys had a cell phone on shore and called 911. Searchers centered their recovery operation along County Road 486 just west of Nevada near Lavonia Park.

Authorities from a number of different agencies used sonar and divers during the 10-hour operation.
