Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, accusing him of an “egregious abuse of judicial power” for ordering Cruz’s phone carrier not to inform him about a federal subpoena for his personal records.
Cruz told Newsmax on Wednesday the Biden administration’s Department of Justice subpoenaed AT&T for his cellphone data as part of the Arctic Frost investigation, but the company refused to comply, citing constitutional protections for members of Congress.
However, the subpoena included a gag order from Judge Boasberg — a directive that barred AT&T from telling the senator that federal agents were seeking his records.
