Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A water pump malfunctioned Friday at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, southwest of Dallas, forcing an automatic shutdown of the system, and causing a sudden dip in Texas’ overall electricity supply. That forced the grid manager to tap into a brand new reserve system to stabilize things. That reserve system became functional just six days earlier, on June 10. It worked as planned, and most Texans didn’t even know there’d been a problem until Sunday’s announcement that the nuke plant’s problem had been fixed, and the Commanche Peak plant was once again generating power.
