Police Investigated Threats to Several Plano ISD Schools, Suspects Could Face Charges

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Plano Police Department investigate threats at several schools on Monday.

Investigators said a student who transferred out of state is accused of making a social media threat that mentioned a shooting at Clark High School on Monday.

Authorities interviewed the student’s parents and the student will be monitored for the foreseeable future due to possible pending charges in connection to the threat.

Police have beefed up their presence at Clark out of an abundance of caution.

Another incident at Hendrick Middle School involved a reference to a shooting that was sent in a text message to a group of students.

A current student has been identified as the culprit behind the post. The juvenile could also face criminal charges.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a Vines High School student had been making threats and was in possession of a gun.

Plano police said the student shared a photo of the suspect in the Allen Premium Outlets Mall mass shooting and of people evacuating with smiley face captions.

The Vines HS school resource officer found the student. No guns were discovered and investigators said the validity of threats could not be verified.

At Bowman Middle School, police were alerted when a BB gun fell out of a student’s backpack. No threats were made, the BB gun was confiscated and the situation was resolved immediately.

Officer Jennifer Chapman said authorities take these threats very seriously.

“We’ve seen these threats play out and that’s the last thing we want to happen. Public safety is our number one priority. We just want everyone to make sure that they are reporting these. We’d rather have too much information than no information at all,” she said.

Similar incidents have been reported at school districts across the Metroplex over the last few months.
