Three Tarrant County Police Departments Join Forces

(WBAP/KLIF) — A new pact between three police departments aims at making Tarrant County streets safer. A new inter-departmental agreement between law enforcement agencies in Tarrant county aims to reduce crime and catch thieves. The agreement announced earlier this week between Fort Worth, White Settlement, and Lake Worth police departments is paying dividends.

White Settlement Police Chief Chris Cook says the three departments overlap resources around city limits, which has also enhanced traffic enforcement. The pact is allowing better coordination of law enforcement in West Tarrant county. According to Cook, the agreement has already led to the recovery of eight stolen vehicles from Fort Worth using camera technology along the city limits.

Each department is permitted to travel across city limit lines for crime investigations and traffic enforcement. In addition, all three departments are now monitoring radio traffic from the other jurisdictions to better coordinate crime fighting tactics.
