Prop-A: Dallas County Voters Could Help Transform Dallas

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas voters are being asked to approve a ballott issue that, if passed, would lead to a monumental transformation of the city.

Proposition A asks voter to raise the hotel occupancy tax for tourists by 2%. Monies generated would go toward demolishing and rebuilding the Dallas convention center, renovations at fair park and more.

The prposed plan is to tear down the current Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention and to build a new state-of-art facility in its place. Renovations to the Cotton Bowl and Coliseum at Fair Park are also proposed; as well as other projects with a 6 mile radius of the convention center. Prop-Ais expected to generate 1.5 billion dollars over 30 years.

But critics say the devil is in the details as to exactly how much the project will cost. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson told our media partment WFAA-TV that it’s important to get it passed first then city leaders can sit down to discuss specific details about the proposals.
