San Antonio (WBAP/KLIF) – The Bexar County sheriff has certified that 49 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida Gov. Ron Desantis last month were victims of a crime; that certification makes them eligible for a special visa.
Sheriff Javier Salazar signed certification forms on Thursday, according Boston immigration attorney who was in San Antonio Thursday to get the paperwork, according to the Texas Tribune.
The migrants said they were convinced to board airplanes to Massachusetts on promises jobs, housing and education.
In a statement to GBH News/Boston Salazar said,
that based upon the claims of migrants, “We are investigating this case as possible unlawful restraint.
DeSantis has not commented.
