40% of Texas Monkeypox Cases are in NTX

Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – State Health officials updated the states monkeypox cases on Tuesday.

According the Texas Department of State Health Serivces, 454 Texans have been diagnosed with monkeypox. North Texas has the most at 228. While most of the infections have been document in ment, there have also been seven confirmed females cases across the state.

Vaccines to prevent monkeypox are in limited supply; Texas is waiting on another 58,000 doses.

Symptoms mimic the flu, but sores and lesions are what sets the virus apart. transmission is primarily through direct contact with infectious lesions, scabs, or body fluids.

As of Tuesday, 175 cases were reported in Dallas County, 35 in Tarrant County, 10 in Denton County and eight in Collin County.
