ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The suspect in this week’s shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington is out of jail on bond.

Timothy George Simpkins is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm after opening fire inside Timberview during a fight with another student. He posted a $75,000 bond and was released from the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday.

While authorities have said the shooting was prompted by a fight and was not a “random act of violence,” the community is hurting.

“We are now focused on healing our community,” Mnasfield ISD Superintendent Kimberly Cantu said on Thursday.

Counseling is available to students, staff, and families.

According to Police, witnesses said the person Simpkins was fighting with was restrained by a witness. During that time, Simpkins is said to have pulled a gun from an orange backpack and opened fire multiple times.

Simpkins’ family say he had been bullied but condemn his decision to bring a gun to school and use it.
