Duncanville ISD Students Return to Full In Person Learning

DUNCANVILLE (WBAP/KLIF)- Students at Duncanville ISD returned to campus for face-to-face learning.

The school year began earlier this year because the district added 11 days to the calendar to catch students up from learning loss caused by the pandemic.

“The purpose of those additional 11 days of instruction is to try and have some accelerated learning for students that haven’t been in person or engage with a teacher because of virtual learning,” said Tiara Richard with the district.

Richard said the first day of school has been a great hit and students are excited to be face-to-face with teachers and classmates.

“This is the first time in 15 months where we have had all students on campus again and we are excited about it because we know our kids learn better and they retain more information when they get that one on one, face to face interaction with teachers,” she said.

The District said they are implementing the same safety protocols put in place last year when only some students returned to campus.

They are continuing the nightly deep cleaning and providing teachers with personal mist sprayers so they can disinfect throughout the day.

Campuses are also undergoing air ventilation updates. Masks aren’t required but they are strongly encouraged.
