DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Former President Donald Trump was the headline speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Sunday, in Dallas.
The Former President spoke to a few thousand people, mostly conservatives, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas Sunday evening. He wasted no time criticizing the Biden Administration just a few minutes into his speech. Trump offered disdain of Biden’s reversal of many of his more restrictive border policies.
Speaking about illegal crossings Trump said “They’re coming out of the prisons. They’re coming out of everywhere in these other countries. They think we’re so stupid. They’re letting their prisoners out, floating in through the caravans. Coming into our country; murderers, drug dealers, human traffickers of women, mostly women.”
In addition to the influx of migrants at U.S. borders, the 45th President spoke about a wide range of topics including cancel culture, fraud in the 2020 elections, critical race theory and law enforcement. “We totally respect and support the men and women in law enforcement. They will never be de-funded,” said Trump. According to Fox Radio News, the president easily won the 20-24 presidential nomination poll at C-P-A-C, getting 70% of ballots cast in the anonymous straw poll.
“We are devoted to our communities. We are loyal to our fellow citizens. And above all we live by the words of our national motto in God we trust. These are the convictions that define our movement today and must define the Republican party which has truly become the party of the working man and woman…we have a much different party than we had five years ago,” said Trump.
Former President Trump emphasized the importance of all Republicans voting in the midterm elections. At some point during Trump’s speech chants of “Four more years!” rang out from the crowd.
The three day event was expected to bring in revenue for local businesses with Craig Davis, President and CEO of “Visit Dallas” predicting the event would have an overall economic impact of 650 thousand dollars to the city.
