Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Jobless Texans have lost their extended unemployment benefits. The federal government had been boosting unemployment checks during the pandemic, but some Texas businesses have been complaining that meant many people without jobs were making enough money that they didn’t want to go back to work. So, as of Saturday 8 states, including Texas, have dropped the federal benefits. The national program doesn’t otherwise expire until September. Texas also recently re-instated the mandatory must-look-for-work requirement to qualify for unemployment.
