UNT HSC, Tarrant County Move to Mobile Pop Up Vaccine Model

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Tarrant County continues to partner with the UNT Health Science Center in an effort to reach herd immunity.

Doctor Sylvia Trent-Adams with the UNT HSC said Tarrant County and its partners have administered close to 800,000 vaccine doses.

She said they currently have 10 public health partnership vaccine sites in the county. But they have shifted gears to strictly mobile pop up sites.

This will give residents more options to get the vaccine and reach more communities.

“We will continue to monitor the data in Tarrant County and surrounding areas to get a sense of vaccine load in the community,” said Trent-Adams.

She said the Saginaw and Ebinezer sites have both reached contract and have closed but had great success.

The HSC plans to open a pop up site at Fort Worth’s Sundance Square on Friday, May 28th to reach those who visit and work in downtown Fort Worth.

David Mansdoerfer with the HSC said there is still some hesitancy and mistrust from the community especially in rural communities. He said they have launched digital and mail marketing campaigns with community partners to encourage and educate residents who may be on the fence about getting the shot.

“As we move forward I think we are going to see a higher level of interest across Tarrant County in public health efforts which we will build that public health trust but we couldn’t go into some of those communities without the community partners who act as the closer,” he said.
