Texas Lt. Governor Asks for Special Session but Governor Abbott says “There’s Still Time”

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is asking for a special legislative session to specifically pass three bills with conservative support. But, Governor Abbott is encouraging lawmakers to stay focused, as the session nears its end.

On Wednesday, Patrick called on the Governor to hold a special session to hear bills that involve transgender athletes, tax payer funded lobbying, and social media censorship.

“The Texas House killed these conservative bills that majority of Texans in both parties support,” Patrick insisted.

Governor Abbott said it appears some lawmakers are trying to end the game before the time clock has run out.

“There’s still time remaining for the House and Senate to work together to get important conservative legislation to my desk,” said Governor Abbott. “Members in both chambers need to be spending every minute of every day to accomplish that mission.”

Abbott has already called a special session for later this year to address the budget and allocating COVID-19 relief funds.
