(WBAP/KLIF) — The man accused of a deadly crash that killed five illegal immigrants faces life in prison. A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from a migrant smuggling run that ended in a deadly crash that killed five of his passengers.
Jorge Luis Monsivais, Jr., of Eagle Pass faces life imprisonment for his guilty pleas in Del Rio, Texas, Monday. the charges include federal conspiracy, illegal transport and illegal harboring counts.
Documents show Monsivais led Border Patrol and local deputies on a deadly high-speed chase in June of 2018 that ended in a crash in big wells. the crash killed five passengers and injured nine others.
