FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers are getting second dose Covid-19 shots this week thanks to a partnership with the Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders in Fort Worth and Tarrant County Public Health.
Dr. Albert Parra with the center says these individuals are highly vulnerable to severe Covid-19 symptoms due to suppressed immune systems and stress. Plus, if infected with COVID-19, vital chemotherapy/radiation treatments and follow up screenings will be missed, jeopardizing overall outcomes.
To meet this urgent need, The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders in Fort Worth is providing drive-thru COVID-19 shots dedicated to these patients so they aren’t having to stand in long lines or wait among large crowds.
“Now that everyone has access to the vaccine, get vaccinated. We cannot stress that enough to protect our most vulnerable. As we continue to drive the numbers down that should hopefully put us in a better place,” said Parra.
The second dose drive thru will be held Tuesday, April 13, Wednesday, April 14 and Friday, April 16, from 1 pm to 5 pm and The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders parking lot (800 W. Magnolia Fort Worth, TX 76012)
