Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – A Houston accountant who narrowly loss to Lt, Gov Dan Patrick in 2018 is seeking a rematch in 2022.

Democrat Mike Collier told the Dallas Morning News that he aims to hold Patrick accountable for failures like the Texas power emergency and the pandemic response.

Collier added, “I’m convinced that not only do we have to run against him, we’ve got to beat him and I think I’m the guy to do it.”

Collier believes that Texas voters are ready to blame Patrick and other GOP leaders for the failed response to the winter storm.

The campaign would mark Collier’s third run for statewide office.

Meantime Patrick is staunchly behind GOP-led efforts to further restrict mail balloting and limit early voting hours, among controversial proposals in the Texas House Bill 6, and the newly passed Senate Bill 7.
